Stan signed for Blues in a record deal on Tuesday July 27th 1999 and became Trevor Francis' second signing of the summer.
A left-sided player who is also at home in the centre of midfield, the Australian international is set to provide Francis' side balance in the coming season and ends the boss' long search for a left-sided midfielder following his failed attempts to sign Wayne Quinn, Andy Sinton and Bjarne Goldbaek during the pre-season. Stan was a £300,000 steal for West Ham from West Adelaide in the summer of 1995 and he quickly settled into life in England. A raw talent at the time, the left-sided player nicknamed 'Skippy', was spotted by assistant manager Frank Lampard, and has proved he can make the grade at Premiership level. Had the chance to leave West Ham on numerous occasions but continually vowed to fight for his place at Upton Park, until the opportunity to sign for Blues arose.
