| A Yorkshire lad, Nicky signed for Barnsley after taking 'A' Levels unaware that his career would take him all the way into the Premiership and to Wembley. He made his senior debut at the end of the 1992-93 campaign, and went on to make the right-back spot his own the following year. Dependable and tough-tackling, with an accurate delivery from the flank, Nicky has played both as an orthodox full-back and in the more advanced wing-back position. Eaden's consistency was rewarded by Dave Bassett at the outset of the 2000/2001 season when he was made club captain, only to come under pressure for a regular spot from loan signing John Curtis, who eventually signed for Blackburn following the Tykes' Wembley defeat at the hands of Ipswich. Out of contract and having missed out on areturn to the Premiership, Eaden had a choice of clubs besides the lucrative option of a testimonial year at Oakwell to ponder, but took just a weekend to make up his mind once Trevor Francis had expressed his interest. |
