| Johnson began as a trainee with Notts
County and graduated to the first team at Meadow Lane during the 1991/92 season. He came
to St. Andrew's in August 1995 and made an immediate impression as a cultured central
defender. Nicknamed 'Magic', his strong tackling and lightning pace has won him lots of
admirers. Finally broke his goalscoring 'duck' with the Blues after two-and-a-half seasons of trying when he scored against Sheffield Utd towards the end of the 1997-1998 season. He is a crucial member of the squad, and has now added goalscoring to his game. Voted the Official Website's Player of the Year to cap a tremendous 1998-99 season for a player who made his international debut for Jamaica against West Brom at the end of the season to fulfil a life-long ambition. |
