| Martin O'Connor came to St. Andrew's during the 1995/96 season when the club were under the reign of Barry Fry. As it was, he turned down the move at the last minute and decided to stay at Walsall, his home town club. However, in the summer of 1996, contract negotiations at Bescot broke down and he found himself linking up with Fry after all at Peterborough. When Blues stepped back in with a £400,000 offer for his services at the end of November, cash-strapped Posh allowed the player to move on. He is a fast, exciting player with an attack-minded approach. Appointed captain in the wake of Gary Ablett's serious injury in early 1999 but then he himself struggled with a niggling knee injury which forced him to undergo surery during the summer. |
