| .Former Aston Villa trainee who arrived at St. Andrew's on a free transfer as experienced cover for Bennett on the eve of the 1997/98 season. Bromsgrove born keeper who progressed through to the first team ranks at Villa Park making 32 appearances before moving north to join Middlesborough six years later. He spent another four years at Ayresome Park until a £40,000 fee took him to Filbert Street. Kept his place in the side in November 1998 following an injury to Ian Bennett after waiting patiently for his opportunity. Signed a new two-year contract in March 1999 as a reward for his form throughout the season which helped Blues reach the play-offs (scored a penalty during the shoot-out against Watford in the second leg). |
