David, or 'Bugsy', as he is known throughout the game, has spent over a decade in the top flight and is keen to return with the team he finds literally on his doorstep. A product of The Hawthorns, he won seven England under-21 and later 'B' honours as he moved on to play for the then-dominant force in the British game bar none, Liverpool. Finding himself out of favour with the Souness regime, Burrows tried his luck in London with West Ham before returning to Merseyside to play for Everton. His native Midlands eventually lured back the tireless and tigerish full-back, only for regular senior opportunities to begin to dry up under Gordon Strachan. The saga of his signing for Blues included strong competition from Molineux plus the security of a two-year extension to his Coventry deal, both of which Burrows snubbed in order to join Blues' promotion bid on a Bosman.
